The concept of resource is introduced to allow:

• uniform configuration handling.
• centralized loading and storage (registry)
• abstract handling.

It also emphaises what's common and what's not between different groups of resources like configurables, executables and storables, which should make way for better application design.

Furthermore it will allow:

• faster installation, uninstallation and configuration management procedures.
• easier introspection operations usefull for development processes.
